What Causes Late Periods While On Birth Control Pills?

I took the birth control pill low orgestrel right before i was scheduled to have my period. My body now feels like it is stuck in the pre menstral symptom stage. Should I stop the bc and allow my period to come? If I do so can I resume the same pack seeing as I have only completed the 1st week?
