What Causes Late Periods With A Negative Pregnancy Test?

my age is 30 with two children of c-section deleveries. some time my periods will be delayed other than that i use get my periods by 29 to 31 days. this month my periods was delayed by 5 days never happened before so i took prmolut nor 10 mg tablets for 3 days and on the 4th day i did pregnancy test the test showed me negative will be the test be correct or should i consult the doctor.
