What Causes Late Periods With Negative Pregnancy Test?

I am 3 weeks late. Around the time I get period I had one spot on one pad and then no more bleeding. I have taken over 15 tests with morning urine. What is the next option? Do some woman just skip a period or was the spotting skipping. My toddler has been nursing a lot but my periods have been regular for 6 months.
