What Causes Lesions In Heart?

I recently has a nuclear stress test and it showed I have lesions. I am schedule for an angiogram on Friday, my doctor wants me to have the procedure sooner rather then later. Are these lesions caused by plague build or are there other causes. Also is there a chance of a heart attack before the angiogram is done.
