What Causes Light Periods?

my last 2 cycles were as follows, feb 20 5 days normal heavy...then the next one was march 28 7 days but it was really bright light and spotty i could go 8 hrs with nothing on a tampon...could that have been implantation
so cycle 1 32 days
cycle 2 36 days
