What Causes Light Pink To Brown Spotting After Sex?

My friend is 18, and is experiencing light spotting for 3 days in a row after intercourse. This light pink spotting has now turned dark brown on the third day. She is due for her period in about 4 days. Is this a sign of pregnancy or something else? plz help.
