What Causes Light Tinge Of Blood After Intercourse?

I'm a 45 year old woman who has a regular menstrual cycle. After having intercourse with my husband I am finding just a light tinge of blood on my toilet paper when I first wipe myself. I am also very dry but other than that I am fine. Could this be the start of menopause? My doctor (GP) said it is just "trauma" to the area.
