What Causes Loss Of Consciousness On Taking Excess Alcohol?

My mom drinks heavily and is a serious alcoholic. Tonight, she got up from the dinner table and completely lost consciousness. She fell flat on her face. She was unconscious for approximately twenty seconds. I am extremely worried about her. She consumed 3/4 of a 5th of rum. Can you please provide me with information about what may have happened?
