What Causes Loss Of Memory In An Elderly Person?

I have been making errors in what I say ... ie telling a neighbor that she lives above me when she really lives on my flop. Also when ordering my meal I said roast beef when I thought I said filet? Am I beginning to show signs of dementia or what? I am 78years old and of good health exercising five days a week.
