What Causes Low Back Pain And Pain In Hips?

My mother is having low back pain and pain in hips, both her ankles are swelling and red. she was released from hospital last Sunday with pneumonia. Her doctor is currently out of town. She is still doing oxygen and has finished all other medications. Is the pain and swelling in her ankles cause for concern before she is to follow up with her doctor?
