What Causes Lower Abdominal Pain During Intercourse?

Hi, I'm on mocrogynon 30 and my pill free week begins on a saturday - if I have sex on my pill free week (not when I am bleeding heavily) I get lower abdominal pain, which feels like period pain when I am having sex. It's very intense but goes away quickly. I haven't noticed this when having sex any other time. Should I get checked out? Anna
