What Causes Lower Left Region Pain While Suffering From Constipation?

Pain on my left side . It comes and goes sometimes seems to be lower region and other times higher up close to rib area. Sometimes it is after I eat but not always. At times it is extremely painful. I have also all my life suffered with constipation but even have the pain when I'm not constipated. It's getting to the point it's almost everyday
