What Causes Lump And Sore On Top Of The Neck?

i just noticed i have a lump on top of my neck behind my ear, my neck is very sore. and today i felt my fingers thru and found another smaller knot few inches lower. i wasn t sure if i must have slept wrong or injured while i was lifting weight few days ago? please help.
