What Causes Lump In Throat Along With Gagging Feeling In Throat?

Hi I have had a sore throat for a day or two now. I now have this annoying lump in my throat which when I swallow it make me want to gag. I threw up as thought this would help relieve it but i continue to gag. If I try to not swallow lots of fluid builds up in my mouth si I'm finding my self swallowing contantly now. What can I take to help? Thank u
