What Causes Melisma In Men Other Than Sun Exposure?

what could be the cause of melasma in a male other than sun exposure? I have fair skin and brown patches on both cheeks one of which seems to be spreading if not both even though i use sunscreen everyday here in the caribbean. Is there an internal treatment I could try.
