What Causes Missed Menstrual Periods?

I have been taking a low dose of thyroxine for a few months and it sorted out my menstual cycle but has now stopped working and I ve gone a couple of months without a period. (i also have pcos) could it be that I need a stronger dose? I was only taking 25mg because I have borderline underactive thryoid.
