What Causes Missed Period While HPT Is Negative?

Hello, I have missed my period twice but have continual negative pregnancy tests. I do however have pressure in my lower abdomen and back. I have an appointment on Thursday to see my doctor, but have a lot of anxiety after reading the internet. How serious does this sound?
