What Causes Mole On Scalp Of Head?

Hello, I am a 43 year old white male with dysplastic nevus syndrome. I have my moles checked regularly but last night discovered a new mole that I'm not sure has ever been checked...it may have been but just not sure. The mole is in my scalp. I have noticed some tenderness on and off in that area for the past 1-2 months but assumed it was a hair follicle. My wife discovered the mole after I asked her to check the area. It is larger than a pencil eraser, RED TO REDDISH BROWN IN COLOR and slightly raised. Of note, my new dermatologist did check my scalp 2 months ago...just not sure whether she saw this mole. I would like to email or post some pictures to get an opinion if possible. Please let me know if that is possible. I did some research last night and was somewhat scared that this might be a melanoma. Please let me know if you can help. Thanks!
