What Causes Moles On Face?

I am asking this question because, I have developed moles on my face which I didnt have for 25yrs.. but I have a girlfrnd now and she has these moles on her body (not her face) and I have started having those.. I read moles can indicate skin cancer.. just wanted to know did I get these moles because of physical contact?
