What Causes Mouth Ulcers?

I have mouth ulcers, cold symptoms, aching bottom of my back and thighs for a number of days. I had shivers and felt hot,cold a few nights ago, but no temperature at all. The mouth ulcers started a week or so ago, one very large, but today it feels like one is at the beginning of my throat on left.
