What Causes Mucus In Stool While On Medication For Diarrhea?

My husband has had diarrhea for 4 days. He has been using anti-diarrheal drugs. He vomited and had gas pains for 3 days. No fever or other symptoms. He has eaten today but seems to be passing a lot of muscus in his stool. Should I be concerned? I continue to keep him hydrated.
