What Causes My Ears To Pop During A Cold Bout?

Hello. I am a 19 year old male who currently has a cold. I have been noticing that when I swallowing, my ears pop; both of them. I have been noticing this when I had a cold a month ago and my right ear was blocked. It has been doing in on and off since but now it is everytime I swallow.
