What Causes Nagging Pain Under The Left Rib Cage?

I have a discomfort under ny rib cage -- left side. Two years had a sonogram -- they insisted doing it on the right side. Results were only very low functioning Gaul bladder. I've never had an attack -- still nagging pain left side maybe intensified a little. What?
