What Causes Neck And Shoulder Pain?

I had neck and shoulder pain over the holidays ( I teach and had graded many papers over several weeks), but now, my left elbow hurts down about 2-3 inches. Worse, I can t raise it too high or pick up a heavy pan. I now seem to have neck/shoulder pain on both sides all the time.
