What Causes Nipple Sensitiveness In Male?

I have a friend who is male and his left nipple has been extremely sensitive for about 2 weeks now. He has tried warm and cool compress with no real relief. What could be the cause of his symptoms and what suggestions do you have to help ease his sensitivity?
