What Causes Nosebleeds While On Hydroxyurea For Elevated Platelet Count?

Two weeks ago when checking my blood as routine for my polycythemia vera, my platelets were unusually high. So my hemotologist increased my dosage of hydroxyurea. This week I have encountered four nose bleeds in four days. Are the problems related?
