What Causes Numbness And Tingling Sensation In Abdomen?

I have been having a numbness and tingling feeling with a slight pain in my left upper side. Right under the bottom part of my ribs. This system will come and go. It does not last long. I can be at my desk looking on line and for no reason it will start. I can eat sometimes and after eating it will happen. Driving my car and it will happen. I went to see my doctor and he has no idea as to what it could be. He has made me an appointment with a GI doctor and we will go from there. I was hoping someone might be able to shed some light on this.
