What Causes Numbness Between The Shoulder And Arm?

I am having numbness and on and off pain from the shoulder down my left arm. My job is quiet repetitive and I use my left arm a lot. Could this be the reason for my discomfort. I do wake up in the morning with numbness in my both hands. Can someone help.
