What Causes Numbness In Ear?

My left ear feels numb and has all day. I think I am having slight hearing problems with it too. It sort of feels like I have water in my ear, (but there is no reason that I would)... hard to describe, but numb works best. Also have severe TMJ on that side and tons of pain. I have pain meds, but this numbness is really scary.
