What Causes Numbness In Ear?

I went to my doctor and he told me he didn't know what it was and left it at that.My right ear goes numb at different times of the day & night it feels like some thing is creeping up in my ear when the numbness comes.I can deal with it .It's just a little scary..ty Karen
