What Causes Numbness In Foot After Using Nicotine Patch?

Im 21. about 6' tall. I had heart surgery for a heart murmur when i was 10 months old. orthoscopic surgery on both knees. and here is my problem. about 15 minutes after i put on the nicotine patch, the right side of my right foot went numb. and it is still numb. and i have the patch on my right arm. is the numbness because of the patch?
