What Causes Onion Odor From Vaginal Area?

What can cause an oniony/garlic odor from the vaginal area? This is rather embarassing, but for the past 2-3 days I have noticed this. I am 25 years old, no past medical history. No other symptoms including change in dischage, no fishy odor, no redness, no irritation, no itchiness....help!
