What Causes Pain And Burning Sensation In Upper Abdominal Area?

About 4a.m. I started feeling pain/discomfort with a burning/squeezing sensation in the upper abdominal region. Sometimes it extends into chest. It comes in waves and there is no comfortable position to alleviate sensation. Food makes it worse. I have also had some nausea - but didn't last long - and a few episodes of chills - also not long lasting. Husband thinks I should go to ER. I am in good health other than having back issues. History of ovarian cysts and kidney stones. Over the past year I have worked to get my weight and BP down. I've lost 30 lbs & have 15 to go. BP is also down. What could be causing symptoms and is ER recommended?
