What Causes Pain And Dryness In The Vagina During Intercourse?

Hi, I have been applying diprasone to the skin around and on my dissappearing labia lips. The problem is I am very scared to have any sex at all with my husband because of pain and dryness I have been receiving. I also find because the lips have almost completely dissappeared my clitoris is not "protected" and it causes pain if I have sex. I hope you can understand what I mean and can help with any suggestion of what I can do to make things better because it is effecting our relationship. I am 56 years old and have being going through menapause for the last 5 to 6 years.
