What Causes Pain And Inflammation In Throat?

I don t feel sick nor have fever, but my throat hurts and looks a bit inflamed. I believe I have tonsil stones but I took them out and they still feel a bit sore. What can it be? I m leaving for vacation soon and I don t want it to turn into an infection. What can I do?
