What Causes Pain And Irritation In Ear?

I have what feels like a bubble in my ear. It has been going on for almost a month now. I went to the doctor Tuesday but was only told there appears to be slight irritation in my ear. It is constant and sometimes is painful. The doctor prescribed me antibiotics but nothing is relieving this feeling. What could this be and how can I treat it?
