What Causes Pain And Irritation In Vagina During Intercourse While On Implant?

I am currently on the implant and have been since February this year, i no longer have to deal with periods as i don't get them.
I have a partner and recently i have been on holiday for 2weeks meaning that i havent had sex for them two weeks i have been away.
Sex then became a problem for me as it was uncomfortable and very painful as i had irritated the vaginal area which then i experienced a painful burning sensation when i urinated but i continued to have sex despite the pain.
Earlier this morning i felt a sudden pain go through me, it only lasted a couple of seconds, i then went to the toilet to find that i was bleeding. Is this a period or something i should worry about?
