What Causes Pain And Popping Sensation Under Jaws While Opening Mouth Wide?

If I yawn extremely wide, or if I open my mouth to brush my tongue, something under my jaw, near my hyoid bone but to the left, gets stuck and I have to push on the area until it stops hurting and feels like it pops back into place. Afterwards my neck feels sore for a few hours.
