What Causes Pain And Prickly Feeling On Pubic Mound?

I am experiencing a painful, prickly feeling of my pubic "mound". I shave down there, but have never had any problems before. I have now had this problem twice in the last six months. It doesn't seem to last long, but is quite uncomfortable when I am experiencing it. It almost seems to spasm rather than a constant prickly feeling. What is going on and what can I do about it? I am a 53-year-old female. Thanks in advance...
