What Causes Pain And Swelling In Foot After Treating Tibial Plateau Fracture?

On December 14th, 2014 i dx with a tibial plateu fracture and two weeks ago my splint was removed and started using crutches. I was doing great and started bearing full weight. The past 3 days my foot has been in pain, especially top of foot near toes. It has also swell really bad, past day I ve avoided walking and just had leg elevated. Today i woke up and less swelling. Is new symptom of foot pain normal?
