What Causes Pain And Tightness In Leg While Stretching?

I've been having a leg pain since the beginning of January. The back of my leg from my buttocks down to just past my knee feels extremely tight when I stretch it out so when I stand up from a sitting position, it hurts. I try to stretch it but it doesn't seem to loosen. Help?
