What Causes Pain And Tingling Sensation In The Left Thigh?

I have had a problem with pain in my left thigh accompanied by "tingling" in left leg. The problem has existed for 3 months and is exacerbated by sitting in chairs that don't provide good support and comfort. Otherwise I am a "healthy" "semi-athletic" 71 year old male. I am awaiting nerve conduction studies.

Any ideas?
