What Causes Pain Around Ribcage?

I have had a pain on my left side at the top right under the left side of my rib cage, not the center where my stomach is, but to the left, right under the point where I could grab hold of my rib. I can sometimes feel it even going towards my back? It has been going on for at least a week or so. Any thoughts?
