What Causes Pain Around Scar Long After A C-section?

I had a c section 12 years ago. And over the last month or so my scar hurts! Bad! Is that normal? It never really bothered me to much before. I have gained 20 pounds since then but I can t imagine it hurting that much. Very irritating and painful. Please help. Thanks!
