What Causes Pain Behind Ear While Recovering From Flu?

I am recovering from the flu but I have this ear pain that comes and goes. Feels like its coming from behind my ear and it s pain can be compared to bursitis. The pain will hit you for a short second and then goes away and it does it again before settling down for a good amount of time. However, it also feels like my ear may have a little fluid in it.
