What Causes Pain Behind Ears?

A couple of days ago I began experiencing a sharp stabbing pain on the right side of my head behind my ear. The frequency of the stabbing pain increased yesterday Now there is a large swollen lump that is sore to the touch. The frequency of stabbing pain has decreased a great deal today. What is wrong with me and What can I do to resolve this issue. Please email answer. I do not have any money.
