What Causes Pain During Intercourse Post Mirena Insertion?

I have had the mirena for 6 months and during sex my boyfriend complains about it being sore. Also after the last time we had sex I am experiencing extreme pains on the right side of my abdominal area. I can t see a doctor until 2 weeks but unsure if this could be serious?
