What Causes Pain During Intercourse?

When I got off of my birth control I had a two week period. I was wondering if that is normal. Also Since my period has ended it hurts really bad every time my fiance and I have sex. We have tried lubrication, but it isn't helping. I was wondering what might be causing me to have this much pain each time I have sex.
