What Causes Pain From Hips To Knees?

I am having leg pains, horrible pain from my hip past my knee, my leg feels heavy, and I can barely stand. The pain comes and goes but is always beneath the surface of my day. Particularly at night it is unbearable. I am worried that it may be a clot. Is that feasible? Do I need to see my doctor?
