What Causes Pain In Ankles Radiating To Foot And Toes?

I broke my ankle pretty bad about 2 years ago. Ive gotten kenalog and lidocaine shots before and they have worked wonderfully. I got my third shot yesterday into my subtalor joint and since getting it the pain has been worse. I feel the pain shooting from my ankle down my foot and into my toes. I feel like my foot is swollen but it doesnt appear to be. It feels very very stiff. The pain gets worse when i put any type of weight on it. I cant explain the pain too well but its pretty bad. I dont know if this is normal for the first few days but i havent experienced this before so im a bit worried.
